Our story
How Lashone was built
Lashone began in 2010, when Dr Lanre Shonekan registered Lashone Links Limited after years in management roles in telecoms, media and real estate. He started in a single room, doing every job himself: managing director, accountant, cleaner and errand runner.
His first breakthrough was a land deal at Agbara. Instead of borrowing, he partnered with landowning families: Lashone paid for part of a large parcel upfront and used sales to pay for the rest. Keeping the company's capital separate from its profit, Lashone grew estate by estate without depending on bank loans.
Each new estate created new needs, and new businesses grew to meet them: security to protect the estates, a farm on land the group had acquired, a business school to train people, a cooperative to help members save towards homes, a media arm to tell the story, and a laundry.
Every year Lashone brings its clients, partners, staff and regulators together at its annual stakeholders' meeting to report on progress and plans. In 2017 the 7th meeting, at Excellence Hotel, Ikeja, was chaired by Chief Ernest Shonekan, GCFR, former Head of the Interim National Government of Nigeria. In 2020 the meeting moved online.
